Plate and Frame Filter Press

The plate-and-frame filter press is an ideal solid-liquid separation equipment for suspensions, characterized by compact design, operational flexibility and reliable performance. Based on the working method, it can be categorized into manual, fully automatic and semi-automatic types. It can also be distinguished by its key component, the filter plate, with common types including polypropylene plate-and-frame filter press and rubber plate-and-frame filter press.

Depending on whether the filter residue needs to be washed, it can be further divided into washable and non-washable types. Washable filter press has two types of filter plates: perforated filter plate with a washing fluid inlet hole (also known as washing plate) and non-perforated filter plate without washing fluid inlet hole (also known as non-washing plate). Washable filter press can also be classified into unidirectional and bidirectional washing types. For unidirectional washing type, perforated filter plates and non-perforated filter plates are alternately arranged, while for bidirectional washing type, all filter plates are perforated filter plates, but the washing inlets of adjacent filter plates are staggered to prevent simultaneous washing liquid flow.

The plate and frame filter press is a kind of intermittently operated pressurized filtration equipment, which is suitable for solid-liquid separation of various suspensions; it has good separation effect, simple structure, convenient operation, safety and reliability, and is widely used in petroleum, chemical, ceramic, dye, pharmaceutical, sugar, food, metallurgy, textile, coal and environmental protection industries, and is commonly used in sludge dehydration in sewage treatment.

How it works

The hydraulic cylinder piston presses the filter plate to form multiple filter chambers. The feed pump delivers the sludge to each filter chamber. The sludge is dehydrated through the filter cloth under a certain pressure. After the sludge is dehydrated, the hydraulic cylinder is released. The filter plate moving device automatically pulls apart each filter plate to unload the sludge and wash the filter plate.

1. Frame part

The frame is the foundation of the whole set of equipment. It is mainly used to support the filter mechanism. It is connected by thrust plate, clamping plate, machine base, screw, reduction box and main beam. The main beam supporting the filter mechanism is made of high-quality channel steel, which has the characteristics of tensile resistance, bending resistance, high strength, high endurance and good toughness. The thrust plate, clamping plate and machine base are welded with high-quality steel plates, with good vibration reduction and high strength. When the equipment is running, the screw pushes the clamping plate to press the filter plate and filter cloth between the clamping plate and the thrust plate to ensure that the filter slurry is pressurized and filtered in the filter chamber.

2. Filter part

The filter part is composed of filter plates arranged in order on the main beam and filter cloth sandwiched between the filter plates. The filter plate pressed by a unique process has good mechanical properties, stable chemical properties, pressure and heat resistance, corrosion resistance, non-toxicity, smooth surface, good sealing, easy to wash and other characteristics. At the beginning of filtration, the filter pulp, driven by the feed pump, enters each filter chamber through the feed port of the thrust plate. The filter pulp is separated from the solid and liquid by the pressure generated by the feed pump. Due to the effect of the filter medium (filter cloth), the solid is retained in the filter chamber to form a filter cake, and the filtrate is discharged from the water nozzle or the liquid outlet valve.


Operation

1. Compressing

Press the "Compress" button to start the filter press until the motor load increases significantly, the current relay normally closed point is disconnected, and the motor automatically stops after power failure.

2. Filtration

Open the valve of the feed port to start feeding, but ensure that the feed pressure does not exceed the rated pressure on the nameplate. Under the action of pressure, the filter pulp is filtered through the filter medium (filter cloth), and the filtrate is automatically discharged.

3. Release

When the filter pulp is filtered, press the "Release" button, the motor runs in reverse, and drives the pressing plate to retreat. When it retreats to the place where the screw rod has no threads, press the "Stop" button or the travel switch automatically stops a working cycle.
