Hydrophilic
Hydrophilicity refers to the properties of a substance that are composed of or related to water. Hydrates in such substances may dissolve in water or may not: when a compound is fully combined with water, it forms a uniform transparent aqueous solution; if it cannot dissolve, it will precipitate as a solid in the liquid. Common aqueous solutions include seawater, carbonated beverages (such as Coca-Cola), and acid-base solutions (such as hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide solutions, etc.). In contrast, liquids that do not contain water fall into the category of non-aqueous solutions.
